FRANCOIS GAUDET

Francois Gaudet grew up on the Evangeline Trail in an Acadian enclave in southwestern Nova Scotia. He describes being Acadian as
" existing in an intertidal zone— caught between the established and the uncertain, between fact and fiction, the visible and the invisible. "
With a major in photography, he uses it as a powerful mythical eye for navigating this complex paradigm. He holds a minor in painting and combines both mediums into his pieces, creating modern encounters of a world long passed.
He integrates the oral tradition of the Acadian language into his work,
either poetically or cryptically. Working in both Acadian French and English
extends an ever-present historical neutrality.
